Building trust in an age of disruption

This panel will discuss the evolving digital landscape and the need for a global approach that fosters people’s trust through a fair deal for users, real competition, transparency in data protection and practices, fair taxation and responsible banking in a digital environment.

Panelists will discuss the importance of incentives and recognition in reinforcing responsible behaviour, short-term versus long-term visions and, drawing on their own experiences, how to measure success. The participants will also discuss challenges to responsible models in the new political environment.

Two new participants in financial services will briefly present their respective products or services to set the stage for a conversation on “Rules of the game for the digital age.”

Participants will discuss the challenges in finding the right balance between benefits for consumers, fair competition (“same activity, same rules”), innovation, customer protection, prudential requirements and cybersecurity, focusing on how citizens and the economy can be better served. The competing and complementary capacities of users, Bigtech, new techs and incumbent financial services will be considered, as well as the challenges of global cooperation and coordination.

Transportation to the conference will be provided. Buses will depart from Paseo de la Castellana, 24 (Madrid City center), at 7:15 and 7:30.

After the conference, transfer from Ciudad Grupo Santander to Madrid City center or International Airport (Barajas) will be at 17:00.

Estimated time of journey is 45 minutes.
